Second Screen ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that provides a floating screen capture panel. This policy describes what data the Extension accesses and how it is handled.
The Extension does not collect, transmit, store remotely, or share any user data. Specifically: Your screen, video feed, or captured content is never uploaded anywhere. It is rendered locally in your browser tab and discarded when the capture session ends. No personal information (name, email, account) is ever requested or stored. No usage analytics or telemetry is sent to any server. No third-party tracking scripts are included.
The Extension uses Chrome's storage.local API to store the following preferences on your device only:
Whether the widget has been dismissed (true/false)
The number of captures started (integer, used to trigger a feedback prompt)
The date the extension was first installed (timestamp, used to trigger a feedback prompt)
Whether feedback has been submitted or dismissed (true/false)
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to anyone other than you.
When you initiate a screen capture, your browser displays a native permission dialog asking you to choose what to share. This is controlled entirely by Chrome's built-in security system. The Extension cannot bypass this prompt or capture anything without your explicit selection. The video stream from your capture is rendered directly in the floating panel and is not processed, saved, or transmitted.
If you choose to submit feedback via the built-in feedback form, your star rating and optional message are sent to a Google Forms endpoint. This is entirely optional and only triggered after 3 captures or 1 week of use. No personally identifying information is collected.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL.
